Desk lamp (mains) in Japan: which rules apply?
1 of the 2 rules we have read in Japan apply or may apply to this product: Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act (DENAN) - PSE labeling (電気用品安全法).
Each rule is matched on the answers below, using the scope the official page states. This page names what we checked and what we have not; it does not say that nothing else applies.
Assumed answers: Plugs into the mains supply, no radio, not for children. Change them in the checker. Open the checker
Rules that apply, with conditions to check
- Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act (DENAN) - PSE labeling (電気用品安全法) (PSE mark (Diamond PSE / Circle PSE)): conditions to check: Applies only to products on the official lists (Cabinet Order, 457 items); whether a given product is on a list cannot be settled from the visitor's answers. Exemptions exist (trial manufacture, export, specific uses). Radio products are also under the Radio Act. Depends on the product or standards (see the note)
Checked, and not triggered by these answers: Radio Act technical regulations conformity certification for specified radio equipment (技術基準適合証明等 / 技適マーク).
What we have not checked
These rules may apply to your product. We have not read them, so nothing on this page says anything about them.
- Consumer Product Safety Act (PSC mark for specified consumer products)
- Food Sanitation Act rules for food-contact articles and toys
- Household Goods Quality Labelling Act and other labelling rules
- Rules for cosmetics and medical devices
- Energy-saving rules for specific product groups
